Gearing up for North Texas Giving Day
As the summer season winds down and we turn our attention to school, and work, and the Halloween decor already making its way into stores (turn away if you're not ready!), we also ease into the season of giving to causes that matter most to us. North Texas Giving Day is a great opportunity for you to focus on a single day of giving to non-profits that represent the causes most important to you.
This year, early giving starts on August 27 and culminates on September 17, the declared date for North Texas Giving Day. We are grateful for all the generosity throughout the years and anticipate expressing more gratitude when all is said and done.

What's Allowed on the Trails Besides People?
The Dallas Police Department has posted rules for e-bikes and other recreational vehicles on City trails. Just because it has wheels doesn't mean it's allowed. Here is a quick reminder recently distributed by Council Member Willis and posted to PeopleNewspapers.com.
Mothing and Fireflies: The Greenbelt at Night
The Bachman Greenbelt by day is beautiful, as birds chirp and bees surround the wildflowers that pepper the area. But after the sun sets, the Greenbelt is completely transformed when moths, beetles, fireflies and other insects emerge and take over.
It's a Downhill Climb: The Force of Gravity
There is no irrigation system in the Bachman Greenbelt. In order to put the green back in the Greenbelt, at the end of 2024, we at Friends of Bachman Lake rigged up a Ram pump to pull water from a side creek in order to fill a tank. But it wasn't enough for what was needed because going uphill with water was a big challenge. Fast forward to 2026 and we finally got some good minds together to engineer a pretty clever solution!

This summer, Friends of Bachman Lake is excited to welcome two student interns from the University of North Texas’s Department of Biological Sciences to the Bachman Greenbelt.

A recent opinion article in the Dallas Morning News offers some encouraging language about all the hard work to save, restore and improve Bachman Lake Park the community has put forth. There finally will be a Master Plan and that means great things for the park and the community!

Meet and Greet Every 4th Wednesday

Let's meet at On Rotation Brewery and Kitchen to meet over your favorite beverage and get to know each other! This is a purely social event that gives you just a bit more insight about Friends of Bachman Lake and community efforts to make all our lives better. Let's talk! Our Meet and Greet is scheduled for the 4th Wednesday of each month, weather and schedule permitting.
