Board of Directors - We Need Fresh Minds to Keep Things Going!

Do you live in the Bachman area? Do you love biking or walking? Is gardening something you enjoy? Do you want to make a difference?

Friends of Bachman Lake may be a young organization, but boy have we made a difference in getting attention from the City since 2019. We have some big goals and need other like-minded people that want to have fun, and maybe some beers, while making a difference in this community.

For more details about goals and expectations, check our our blog post and then send us a message about your interest!

It's happening! The official groundbreaking ceremony for the Bachman Lake Skate Park was held on March 28, with City officials, Park Board Members, Council Member Omar Narvaez, Mayor Eric Johnson and long-time resident, Park Board member, and outspoken advocate for the quality of life in Northwest Dallas, Tim Dickey in attendance. Construction is expected to be complete by the end of the year.

We Need 6 Organizations for Monthly Clean-ups!

A big thanks to Southwest Airlines, Bank of America, TX Conservation Alliance, and Greenspace Dallas who have helped us with clean-ups in the Bachman Greenbelt during the first 6 months of the year. We are trying to stay ahead of the trash by doing monthly clean-ups led by an area corporation or non-profit.

At this point we need 6 organizations for the second half of the year. Pillar Commercial has already signed-up to be one, yay! If your company wants to host an event later this year, please let us know! (info@friendsofbachmanlake.org)

Stormwater debris threatens waterways and a forgotten population

Storm water washes away more than debris. It exposes some of the City's larger issues like homelessness. Read this insightful piece from Sharon Grigsby https://buff.ly/3xdco9h about the constant need for cleanup and care along our tributaries.

Our Monthly Cleanup is every first Saturday!

You just need yourself, but feel free to add friends and family to our monthly Plogging activities. Basically, it's picking up litter while jogging (or walking). A bag, some company if you like, and a trip around the lake will help you stay active and healthy and keep the park beautiful!
